Mr Ignatius Rahmad, however, was looking to fulfill a different set of requirements. “For us, our ideal solution needed to be implemented within 3-4 months, while also allowing us to conduct testing during the implementation process”, says Rahmad.

As Assistant Engineer of Machinery, Rahmad was tasked with implementation of a balancer machine project for PT Asmo Indonesia, an auto parts industrial manager. PT Asmo needed a sensor and controller for the robot systems in their production line in order to increase the productivity of their machines.

“Omron’s solutions performed well beyond our expectations,” says Rahmad. “Within 2-3 months, we were already implementing, testing, and running the project. The fully-automatic system proved extremely simple and easy to operate: having all functionality available within a single package control system made for far more efficient, effective management of production processes.”

Mr. Sulasdi, as the Assembly & Painting Maintenance Manager for Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia, needed to meet productivity targets through upgrading their existing system. Doing so would require a smooth transition without affecting Toyota’s current operations.

“We needed to upgrade our old controllers and our existing painting and assembly line to be interconnected with different individual machines,” Sulasdi explains. “This would allow data communications to implement Poka Yoke (Error free) system and Andon (Error Signalling) status in production. And we needed the solution to be easy-to-use, perform reliably and have a long product life cycle.”

This comprehensive – some might say challenging – set of requirements failed to faze Sulasdi. After all, he already had a total solutions provider in mind.

Manufacturing is a major industrial function in Indonesia, and automation solutions are becoming commonplace when it comes to raising productivity and efficiency.
